The wonder and beauty of creation, especially of each person, is incalculable. A mother can relate to this experience when beholding her child. A lover can’t get enough of the beloved, and friendships grow stronger when we honor and respect one another.
When asked why this miracle occurred, Father Parrish gave a two-fold response: “First of all, because I believe God wanted it because He willed to have Blessed Claude de la Colombiere declared a saint. But, most especially, to give an impetus to the devotion to the Sacred Heart.”
She provides confident reassurance for our lives: “Between Jesus and the soul there flows a current no one can see and a dialogue that no one hears. Form a rich and beautiful tabernacle for our Lord within your heart and then do not let Him go. In that way, you will always have Him within you…”
We all begin looking through the lenses of wonder but over time we let the voices of the world and the trials of life cloud our view. We fall and are wounded but the loving arms of the Sacred Heart reach down once again and lift us up like toddlers.
Life is full of new beginnings. This begins in the family by getting to know all the ins and outs of daily life. Our spiritual life has new beginnings as well. Each day we grow more and more in our knowledge and love of God.
Couples face many challenges in marriage. Mother and Pascual exemplify some of the greatest qualities of a strong marriage: patience and understanding with differences and weaknesses, consulting and collaborating on finances and other decisions, spiritual unity in prayer and values.
Scripture tells us that God delights in us. Each of our tiny steps in life or new discoveries brings true joy to the Sacred Heart. He promises us to shed an abundant blessing on all that we do. So stop and listen and perhaps deep in your heart you will hear God sing…
A Child has come to us wrapped in swaddling clothes against the chill of the night. He will show us how to bear the trials of life that lead to the joys beyond imagining. This Christmas, when you open up your presents, don’t forget the reason for the season and be sure to open up to the Christmas Presence as well.
