Fire Recovery, Renovation, and Restoration

On April 11, Easter Saturday, we had just finished a time in Mater Dei Hall with our retreatants who shared some of the singular blessings and graces they received during their four-day Healing the Whole Person retreat. What a life-changing retreat it was for them.

Around 1:00 pm, we began our normal routine of praying after the close of the retreat, and the fire alarm system began to sound and alerted fire in Our Lady’s Wing. The building was full of smoke and huge flames were seen on the 2nd floor. Fire departments from three different cities were quick to respond to the alarm and though the fire was fierce, they were able to contain the fire to the one building without it spreading further on our campus.

First and foremost, we thank God that all are safe and that the fire did not spread. As you will see by the photos we are sharing with you, this two-story building has irreparable damage and will impact our retreat services significantly. We are grateful to you for your prayers and loving support.
