Spiritual Motherhood

The month of May is dedicated to honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. This month, we also honor our earthly mothers, including grandmothers, aunts, godmothers – all who played a “motherly” role in our lives, helping to nourish us not only in mind and body but spiritually, as well. We, Carmelite Sisters, share in this motherhood – a spiritual motherhood – in which we spiritually accompany each soul entrusted to our care. It is truly a gift by which we can share the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with every person we encounter. We invite you to listen to some of our featured reflections on Spiritual Motherhood.

As St. Therese of Lisieux said, “In trial or difficulty I have recourse to Mother Mary, whose glance alone is enough to dissipate every fear.” Our Lady of Carmel, thank you for your strength, shelter, and love!

We desire to have them grow and achieve their potential. We rejoice in the gift that we’ve been given to enjoy others as God created them to be!
