Footsteps of Divine Mercy

By Sister Regina Marie, O.C.D.

At all times and in all places, God draws near to us. Do we recognize Him as He approaches us in our busy everyday lives?

  • Have you ever noticed how much Jesus moves around in the Gospels?
  • He gets up.
  • He walks.
  • He passes through Galilee.
  • He climbs up mountains.
  • He comes back down again.
  • He walks across plains.
  • He walks to Capernaum.
  • He moves about the whole region.
  • He passes by the shore.
  • He walks on water.
  • He walks into the death room of a little girl.
  • He journeys to Jerusalem.
  • He climbs the hill to Calvary on that Friday.

Mercy also moves.

  • He is forever on the move.
  • Mercy is NEVER content to procrastinate.
  • Jesus is forever seeking us out. He longs to draw us near to Him.
  • It doesn’t matter where we have been or where we currently are; how young or old we are; the Lord takes the initiative to seek us out and His mercies are new every morning.

One of my favorite Scripture passages is John 3, where Jesus performs His first miracle at a wedding, providing an overabundance of good wine for the celebration!
