The Whisperings of His Heart

By Sister Regina Marie, O.C.D.

The whisperings of His Heart are echoes of the Father’s boundless mercy. They are heard in every page of Scripture and in every day of our lives. Come listen with a hungry heart and leave with a renewed spirit.

These messages, these whisperings of His Heart, from the first pages of Genesis, through the Old Testament, taking on the palpable heartbeat of humanity in the Person of Jesus, through to the Book of Revelation – these whisperings are true. There is nothing more real, more authentic or more lasting in all of creation.

Everyone and everything will pass away. His words are truly eternal; they emanate from the Father’s boundless mercy and therefore they never had a beginning and they can never have an end. You cannot stop them. You can plug your ears; His voice is still here. He created you free; you can run in the opposite direction, but you cannot stop the whisperings of His Heart. The noise of doubt within our hearts can sometimes be as deafening as the storms on the Sea of Galilee. But His whisperings are relentless as they are gentle. Most importantly, the whisperings of His Heart are for you … you personally, not “you” generically. You. God still speaks. And He speaks to you.

Our Merciful Mother

In the Anáhuac Valley of Mexico, on a barren hill called Tepeyac, Our Lady of Guadalupe came as a “merciful Mother,” a healer and restorer of all who are broken in body and in spirit. It is an amazing thought to consider that the “woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars” would place her feet upon the bloodstained soil of a nation’s festering woundedness.

Our Lord said to St. Faustina: “When I come to a human heart in Holy Communion, my hands are full of all kinds of graces which I want to give to the soul, but souls do not even pay attention to me. They leave me to myself and busy themselves with other things … they treat me as a dead object” (Diary 1385).
