By Sister Timothy Marie, O.C.D.
When I entered Carmel, so many years ago now, something happened. Separated from all that went before, I entered into the great mystery of consecrated life. In Carmel, a new concept was introduced to me. Briefly, this is what it was. People are not
valuable simply because of “what they do.” Each of us comes to a point in our lives when it boils down to “who I am” – not “what I do.”
Does that make sense?
I searched deeply within myself hoping to find out who I was without the labels. It was an amazing, exciting journey into authenticity. Yes, authenticity is a big word, but it says exactly what I want to say.
All of us must, sooner or later, must take the journey into authenticity. Don’t be afraid of it. You will discover who you are at your core, the real you that God made you to be. God loves each of us, He has HIS vision of each of us AND the mission HE has entrusted to us. When we begin to live in sync with this, we discover our authentic self, as He created us to be, our rhythm of life happens according to HIS timing.
And we are at peace. Peace be with you.
