Sister Carmen Therese

of the Immaculate Heart (Green), O.C.D.

Get to know Sister:

Where did you grow up?
Louisville, Kentucky.
In one word, how would you describe your time as a religious?
Adventurous.
What drew you to Carmel?
Carmel has a unique Marian devotion which imitates the Blessed Virgin Mary in contemplating God’s word and responding in obedience to His will. In addition to imitating Mary’s example, I have the ability in Carmel to associate myself with Jesus’ sufferings and offer sacrifices for others through the heart of Mary.
What tips do you have for younger religious on how to persevere in their vocation?
It is important for young religious to foster a deep prayer life that allows for communication with the Lord outside of scheduled times of prayer. This prayer life should also be enriched by frequent reception of the Sacraments especially the Eucharist and Confession. Another important aspect is having a warm community that is supportive in which one can have an honest dialogue about the challenges and joys of daily life.
