Sister Carmen Raphael

of the Eucharist (Monroy), O.C.D.

I’m very grateful for my community. We’re very  united. We keep to what Mother Luisita taught us.

Get to know Sister:

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Tucson Arizona, and moved to Los Angeles, CA when I was three yrs. old.

In one word, how would you describe your time as a religious?

Beautiful.

What drew you to Carmel?

I went to Sacred Heart Retreat House, and when I met the sisters I wanted to be like them. I wanted what they had. I loved their devotion to the Sacred Heart and to Our Lady.

What tips do you have for younger religious on how to persevere in their vocation?

Each day follow the Carmelite Rule, be faithful to your prayer life, and be content with doing what you are asked to do by your superior.

For you personally, what does it mean to be a Carmelite?

To be a woman of constant prayer, and to follow God’s will.
