What does it mean for you to be a Carmelite Sister of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles?
Firstly, it is a song God the Father sings over me of His faithful and glorious love in calling me to be His. It means to be a wise virgin totally given to a living relationship with Him, my spouse. As His bride my life joined to His is animated by His love with the flavor of our Carmelite spirit. It’s to be a spiritual mother, like Mary, nurturing the life of souls the Lord allows me to encounter. It truly is amazing as God has blessed me with finding the vocation He destined for me from all eternity!

Sister Marinette
of the St. Joseph (Marcellin), O.C.D.
I am so grateful to Our dearest Lord for being so patient in bring me to Carmel. I put Him off for 8 years. But all things come in God’s good time and in His plan. There are many people to thank for their prayers and support all these many years – my family and friends, the Immaculate Heart Sisters for an appreciation of religious life and the two Carmelites who taught at Bishop Amat High School. A great big God Reward you to Sister Mary Gonzaga, OCD. Life is precious, beautiful and everlasting – so live that way.

Sister Regina Marie
of Jesus (Gorman), O.C.D.
My heart is brimming with gratitude: that God calls me; that He sustains me; that He is faithful; that He so freely gives His Heart away. Who am I to receive such gifts? Yet, such is the boundless love of our God.

Sister Mary Elizabeth
of the Trinity (Barbosa), O.C.D.
I would like to thank God for my call to Religious Life, my parents my sisters, Ruth and Rose Marie and my extended family for nurturing and supporting my vocation. I am also grateful to my beautiful Carmelite Community especially those Sisters who taught me at Holy Family School in Wilmington. They were an example of faithfulness in their call to Religious Life.

Sister Mary Jeanne
of the Cross (Coderre), O.C.D.
I am grateful to my wonderful parents who taught me at a very young age to know, love and serve God and who with my extended family modeled this for me by their lives.
I am grateful for my religious family. The grace of living and journeying with so many wonderful sisters has been a special grace far beyond my imagining. Each sister has enriched my life in a special and unique way, many of whom now form a “cloud of witnesses” in eternity.
I am grateful for my relatives, friends and co-workers as well as for those whom I have been privileged to serve and who have supported and inspired me by their example and their love.
I can only echo the words of our beloved Mother Foundress, Mother Luisita, “Nothing is lacking, I have found the fullness of happiness in my Carmelite vocation.”

Sister Mary Paul
of Jesus Crucified (Dale), O.C.D.
Dear friends, I want to thank God, my community, and my family and friends for your support and help in so many ways. All leading to this great moment of grace. Please continue to pray for me, as I do for you. Please forgive me in any way in which I may have offended or disappointed you. God bless us each and all! I love you.

Sister Bernadette
of the Immaculate Conception (Luna), O.C.D.
In looking back on my religious life, I see how I have been blessed by the peace and joy of my sisters.
