“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you…and formed you…Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1

During Postulancy, young women live with us and participate in our life, yet they are still on a certain level “observers” who are “knocking” on the door asking to enter.  The word Postulant itself derives from a Latin word literally meaning “to ask or demand.”

When Postulants are received into the Novitiate, they begin their religious life as a member of our Community.   They participate in the life of the Community in a new and deeper way.  The religious veil signifies this first step towards consecration, a “setting apart” for the Lord as well as each sister’s new name.

We treasure the opportunity to call our youngest members Sister for the first time and we enjoy the revelation of God’s plan for them hidden in their new name.  Each name carries a mission and the day a Novice is received we get our first glimpse into God’s work in and through their yes to Him.
